The extreme polarization this election cycle and the fact that everyone and your mother (and your grandmother, and your crazy uncle) is on social media these days has produced some interesting, uncomfortable and sometimes downright vicious arguments on the likes of Facebook and Twitter between strangers, friends, and even family members. 

Morning Shift talks to Caitlin Dewey, digital culture critic for the Washington Post, about how the 2016 presidential race is playing out on social networks and what it’s doing to our relationships in the digital world. We also check in with Jessica Baldwin-Philippi, a Fordham University professor who studies the relationship between technology and politics, about how candidates are reaching out to voters on social media.
