A new report from the Great Cities Institute at the University of Illinois at Chicago breaks down the latest demographic data on Latinos living in Chicago and the region. In recent years, there’s been a growth in the population in our area and in the nation as a whole.

Today, Latino millennials are the second biggest cohort in their generation after whites, but the author of a new book argues that many of them do not view their own identity like their Caucasian counterparts.

Morning Shift talks to UIC sociologist Nilda Flores-Gonzalez about her book Citizens But Not Americans: Race And Belonging Among Latino Millennials. Her research draws on her interviews with nearly 100 young Latinos in and around Chicago.
