Police departments across the country are piloting body camera programs in the wake of the fatal shooting of an unarmed teenager by an officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Some Illinois lawmakers say they’ll bring legislation during the Fall Veto session that would facilitate the use of body cameras by law. But many have raised privacy and surveillance concerns. The merits of police body cameras will be discussed at a joint judiciary hearing Friday morning. WBEZ’s Katie O’Brien will be there and she has a preview of the hearing.
