Illinois Soybean Farmers Want Resolution To US-China Trade War

The US-China trade war has escalated sharply, with President Trump declaring new tariffs on some $300 billion dollars of Chinese goods, and China halting all deals for US farm products.

This is bad news for farmers — especially soybean farmers in the Midwest. Illinois produces more soybeans than almost any other state, and China is one of its biggest buyers.

WBEZ’s Mariah Woelfel talked with Austin Rincker, a fourth-generation soybean farmer  in Moweaqua , Illinois about how the trade war is affecting him.
