Many of the questions facing voters in Chicago suburbs next week center around education. In Oak Park and Evanston, voters will decide whether they want to pay more taxes to fund schools. In Palatine, the school board could see changeover because of the battle over transgender students use of school locker rooms.

In Proviso Township, west of Chicago, two opposing factions are fighting over the future of the town’s struggling school district. WBEZ spoke with Cook County Chronicle reporter Jean Lotus about this year’s race.
