Last week the besieged Syrian town of Madaya received its first shipment of aid since October. Trucks brought in food and blankets and much needed relief for a population on the verge of starvation. The aid is expected to last about a month. Dr. Ammar Ghanem, a pulmonologist in Fort Wayne, Indiana is originally from a town near Madaya. He works with the Syrian American Medical Society to help support a field hospital in Madaya. Dr. Ghanem says people have no way out of Madaya and that the city resembles a concentration camp, with people slowly dying from starvation and regime forces preventing them from leaving. He says at least 400 people need to be evacuated immediately or they will die from starvation. He joins us to talk about the humanitarian crisis in Madaya. Guest: Dr. Ammar Ghanel is a pulmonologist.
