An Indiana University professor today wins the Nobel Prize in economics.

Elinor Ostrom was named the latest recipient of the Nobel Prize in economics, and she’s the first woman to win the award since it was established in 1968.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences cites her work in economic governance, an area of economics she says is related to climate change—namely how individuals can work collectively outside of the government to share and manage natural resources. She shares the award with University of California professor Oliver Williamson.
