An Indiana Senate committee yesterday voted in favor of a bill that would allow some businesses to deny services to individuals based on the business owner’s religious beliefs. Critics call the bill discrimination and a wrongful use of taxpayer money. Supporters, meanwhile, say the measure is in line with federal law that allows religious exemptions for certain businesses.
