Prashant Bhushan is a public interest attorney in India. He’s been involved in a wide range of corruption, human rights, and environmental cases. Bhushan was part of the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement. It supported Anna Hazare’s campaign for anti -corruption legislation in India. Currently, Bhushan is involved in a whistleblower situation. India’s had major problems ensuring the safety of whistleblowers over the years. Since 2002, 40 whistleblowers have been killed and thousands have been attacked. New legislation to protect whistleblowers was passed four months ago, but in one of India’s biggest corruption cases the Supreme Court ruled that one of Prashant’s clients was not protected by the new legislation. We’ll discuss the case and the increasing movement to silence whistleblowers around the world.
