International adoption began after World War II, with U.S. military families adopting children who’d been orphaned in war. It took off on a large scale after the Korean War, and it is estimated that as many as 200,000 children have been adopted from South Korea by American families. The Evangelical movement has also been influential in the international adoption movement. We’ll take a look at how international adoption has changed with Arissa Oh, an assistant professor of history at Boston College and freelance journalist Kathryn Joyce.
