The rising number of international students enrolled in U.S. universities has allowed for the creation of enclaves within ethnic groups, leading to perceptions that international students lead parallel college lives to domestic students and are uninterested in learning about American culture, according to one report from The Economist.

We talk about enclave creation among Asian international students and what universities can do to bridge the gap with Yajing Chen. She’s a doctoral candidate in International & Comparative Education at Indiana University Bloomington. Chen co-wrote a report titled “Going Out: The Lives of Chinese Students Abroad” for the Journal of Current Chinese Affairs.
