“The Introvert’s Guide to the Good Life” is Nerdette’s way of helping you enrich and entertain your perhaps-more-than-usual indoors-based life.

And we want to know: Have you been moving your body lately?

Maybe you had an at-home exercise routine way before this pandemic started. Maybe your workouts consist of groaning as you lift your laundry.

Wherever you’re at, personal trainer Sarah Gonsiorowski of The Lunge Ladies has some ideas for you.

Two pieces of homework from a fitness expert

Sarah Gonsiorowski: One is not fitness related at all, and it’s just drinking more water. We’re at home and we’re probably filling up on coffee. We’re probably making some really great cocktails. But really folks, you should be drinking a gallon of water a day.

Number two: Try a strength training class at home. Give it a go. Whether that’s with us or with somebody else, I think the benefits of functional movement are just limitless. And maybe that just starts with a perfect push up. Maybe that means every hour or two hours, you walk away from your desk and you practice push up form or you squat 10 times. Maybe it’s just the simple task of just getting up and doing something functional. Maybe that means moving your furniture.

I could go on with ideas, but I think really just trying something new, I encourage that always. Now more than ever I think is a great time for people to embrace their routine by creating a new one.

Fitness homework from listeners

Danielle from Bremerton, Wash.: I love Yoga with Adriene. She keeps me centered.

Emily from New York City, N.Y.: tWitch and Allison Holker have put up a video every Monday, Wednesday and Friday called the Boss Family Workout. It is just a little slice of joy amidst the craziness. It makes me feel like I’m in class. It makes me feel all the right things.

Leo from the Netherlands: You asked for the best sports app I’m using at the moment and it’s the Zombies, Run! app. It’s really nice because it combines role-playing game elements to starting your first five kilometer run.

Liz from Roseville, Minn.: Walks by myself are life-giving right now.
