While it may not seem surprising that small town hospitals around the state can look like ghost towns, even Chicago is struggling to fill its medical facilities. A Crain’s Chicago Business investigation reveals how some of the city’s older hospitals are scattered with empty beds while new state of the art medical centers are popping up in the suburbs.
