On Saturday, a gunman opened fire on a crowd killing 29 people at a parade in the Iranian city of Ahvaz. The attack was claimed by an Arab separatist group with alleged ties to Saudi Arabia. Some are speculating that the attack was part of a plan by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to force Iran to retaliate. The Trump administration has doubled down on the U.S. alliance with Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Israel, and comments from his top advisers have fueled speculation that the U.S. wants to get involved in a possible war. President Donald Trump spoke at the U.N. General Assembly today, stating he would not meet with Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani, despite tension over the nuclear trade deal.
