According to the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees, at least 2.5 million Iraqis have fled their country since 2003. An additional 2 million have been displaced within Iraq from their homes.

Most Iraqis who have left their country go to Syria or Jordan, but a sizeable number went to Egypt as well.

Vivian Manneh is Program Manager at Catholic Relief Services/Middle East. She’s based in Egypt, but I talked with her when she was in the U.S. for training from the Middle East Iraqi Refugees Trauma Project.
