Last week, Apple was in the headlines after a congressional investigation revealed that the company had used a vast network of overseas subsidiaries to avoid paying billions in corporate taxes. The company’s three Ireland subsidiaries gained the most attention, and brought some international emphasis on what role multinational corporations have played in Ireland’s development from one of the poorest European nations to one of its fastest growing before the 2008 crash.
