As global military forces move to push ISIS out of Syria and Iraq, analysts believe the militant group may be looking at Libya as a new base of operations. St. Pio of Pietralcina, who is known as Padre Pio, is one of the most popular Roman Catholic saints. Millions make the pilgrimage every year to visit his remains. Last week, his body, which normally resides in a small town in southeastern Italy, was moved to the Vatican, where it will remain on display as part of Pope Francis’ jubilee, or holy year celebrations. We speak with nature photographer Mike McDonald about some of Chicago’s most secretly beautiful spots.
