She is a phenomenal jazz vocalist who was born and raised in Chicago, and has chosen to let her star shine from the Windy City by choosing not to move to New York, as so many talented jazz artists do. She has, however, performed at international jazz festivals all over the world including ones in France, Israel, Poland, Italy, Brazil, Germany and Switzerland. Her last album called Wild Is The Wind (2009) received a rare five-star rating from Downbeat. Her newest project Songs My Mother Loves pays tribute and gives thanks to her mother for inspiration and support. Dee did a preview of some of the songs at the Newport Jazz Fest last year. The CD release party is on Thursday, and the full concert performance is on Friday at The Logan Center for the Performing Arts. She joins us with some of her music from the album.
