Lane Tech Votes Police Out Of Schools

Chicago’s largest high school will no longer have police officers in the building. On Monday, the Local School Council for Lane Tech College Prep voted 9 to 3 to remove school resource officers, or SRO’s, from campus. This comes on the same day Chicago Public Schools announced a proposal to slash its budget for police in half. SRO’s have been a matter of serious debate in Chicago, as calls for police reform and de-policing schools grow louder.
