Eli Castro’s solo comedy show, Made in Puerto Rico, was, in fact, made in Chicago. Now, the comedian returns to the city to perform at Laugh Factory on Tuesday night. Before his show, Castro joins us to talk about Made In Puerto Rico, which covers family, cultural identity and the Puerto Rican experience. His work has perhaps never been more relevant; earlier this month, President Trump tweeted that Puerto Rican politicians, upon receiving hurricane relief aid, “spend the money foolishly or corruptly, & only take from the USA.” In his comedy, Castro addresses having a Puerto Rican identity separate from his identity as an American, yet being tied to it.
