By Julian HaydaOn Wednesday, South Korean President Moon Jae-in and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un held a joint press conference at the Paekhwawon State Guest House in Pyongyang, North Korea. According to a CNN article, President Moon Jae-in announced that “international experts” would observe the demolition of key nuclear facilities “if the United States agrees to corresponding measures.” Kim Jong Un would like to hold a second summit with President Donald Trump to accelerate the denuclearization process. Today we will discuss the historic meeting with Bruce Cumings, professor of history at the University of Chicago. He’s author of numerous books on the Korean Peninsula including Parallax Visions: Making Sense of American-East Asian Relations at the End of the Century and North Korea: Another Country.
