From May 27-30, leather lovers around the world will gather for International Mr. Leather. The annual event in Chicago includes a competition among leather men and the latest in leatherware. The man who started it all more than 30 years ago is Chuck Renslow.

Renslow is likely the granddaddy of Chicago’s leather scene. But he also played an important role in the overall development of the city’s gay scene. His contributions are many: political, cultural and definitely entrepreneurial.

Host Alison Cuddy recently met with Chuck at one of the many establishments he started in Chicago, the Leather Archives and Museum.

Warning: the interview contains some very frank language.
