Canada’s Liberal Party, led by Justin Trudeau, won decidedly in national elections yesterday. The Liberals took 184 seats, well over the needed 170 seats. Stephen Harper’s Conservative Party will be out of power for the first time since 2006. The New Democrats (NDP) lost more than half their seats, but are expected to work closely with the Liberals. Trudeau promised great “change” and pledged to prioritize policies like greater infrastructure spending, taxing the wealthy and allowing more Syrian refugees.
