They’re called “remotes”, and they’re a staple in the diet of commercial radio stations around the world. The premise is pretty simple: a station’s host or DJ appears live at a bar, or restaurant, or a car dealership or a you-fill-in-the-blank. They create an event by drawing a large rowdy crowd with drink specials or giveaways. For April Fools day, we created a classic “Opening Day at the Ballpark” remote at a fictitious Wrigleyville bar (with an actual website http://hijinxxgrill.weebly.com/) filled with fictitious patrons. A good time was had by all, and the Cubs will officially open their season at home next week. Please enjoy in the spirit it was intended.
