The co owner of Second Amendment Sports, located in McHenry county, Bert Irslinger Jr., says he wants to help victims of the Orlando nightclub massacre by raffling off a Smith & Wesson AR-15.

“Regardless of tool used for these types of heinous acts,” said Irslinger Jr., “It’s the lost lives, and the injuries and the families of those people involved that are the important thing.”

Colleen Daley, executive director of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence says it’s insensitive and inappropriate.

“You’re raffling off a gun that’s meant to do one thing,” said Daley. “And that’s to kill a large number of people in a short period of time which is exactly what happened in Orlando.”

Irslinger Jr. says he hopes to raise anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000, not including another $2,000 to be donated by the gun shop. Proceeds will go to the OneOrlando Fund. Each raffle ticket is $5.00. The drawing is set for the end of July.
