A local university chaplain recently became the first Muslim woman to represent the U.S. at the international Holy Quran Recitation competition in Indonesia. It’s not the first time Tahera Ahmad’s made the news. Last year, she was the first woman to open the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) convention by reciting the Quran.
