You might not recognize the name, but you’d certainly recognize the face. Longtime Chicago actor and director Mike Nussbaum is the classic “oh, that guy” guy. He’s been called “the definitive Mamet actor” for his work in many David Mamet plays. And he’s spent much of his 50 years as a stage actor, mostly here in Chicago. His latest role as a furniture dealer in the Arthur Miller play The Price, isn’t a stretch for him; the character is 90 years old, one year younger than Nussbaum. Even at that age, Mike Nussbaum simply refuses to slow down. Well, he’s down to 50 pushups a day…but he’s still tack-sharp, and the only thing keeping him from working more is a lack of roles for guys in their 90s. Mike Nussbaum stopped by our studio for a conversation about his career. (WBEZ/Jason Marck)
