The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation announced yesterday their yearly MacArthur fellowships or ‘genius grant’ awardees. These grants go to resource extraordinary creative leaders in their respective fields with a no-strings-attached $625,000 stipend. This year, they awarded twenty-six individuals and several have Chicago ties.
One such individual is Annie Dorsen. She’s pioneering in the world of theater using algorithms and computer technology.
Carrie Shepard in WBEZ’s newsroom spoke with her about her award yesterday. Morning Shift shares part of that interview.
