Parts of Maggie Daley Park will be unveiled to the public Saturday as the new ice skating ribbon opens. City officials are anxiously touting the new construction of the park just west of Millennium Park named after the late Chicago First Lady. That’s not the only park related news the city is praising. A new economic analysis from the Mayor’s office and Chicago Park District claims that parks and playgrounds can help drive property values and create other economic benefits for an area. We talk with Chicago Park District Superintendent Michael Kelly about which neighborhoods are benefiting and if any are being left behind as the city puts resources behind parks growth.
