A proposal expected to be introduced at Wednesday’s City Council meeting would place tighter restrictions on building owners of properties that include single room occupancy units. The ordinance is backed by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and would require owners to maintain part of their units for low-income residents if they choose to sell or convert the building.
