Medea Benjamin is a human rights activist and co-founder of the women-led peace group CodePINK and co-founder of the human rights group Global Exchange. CodePINK protesters receive attention for showing up to televised political gatherings, like Congressional hearings, dressed in pink, holding up signs. One of Benjamin’s latest causes is the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival, to fight poverty in Washington D.C. She is the author of several books including Kingdom of The Unjust: Behind The U.S.–Saudi Connection and Inside Iran: The Real History and Politics of the Islamic Republic of Iran. We’ll talk with her about U.S. Middle East Policy and her opinions on the role of protest in civil society.
