In an effort towards greater autonomy, Mexico City is in the process of drafting a new constitution. And the city is using the online crowdsourcing to give residents a voice in what they want to see in the final draft. 

If a person’s petition receives 10,000 online signatures, they have the opportunity to make their case in front of a panel of experts. 

So far, this experiment in digital democracy has already received 200,000 unique signers, bringing up issues of LGBT rights, animal cruelty, and the environment.
