All week, WBEZ's film contributor Milos Stehlik joins us from the south of France with updates from the 71st Cannes International Film Festival. During his third dispatch for Worldview, he talks about a number of films, including Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. Lee caused a stir at Cannes with an expletive-filled, anti-Trump rant at the film’s press conference.
We also talk about controversial director Lars Von Trier. Banned from Cannes for making anti-Semitic comments, his return entry to Cannes is the disturbingly violent, blood-soaked thriller, The House That Jack Built. While up to half the audience left the film early feeling sickened, the film received some praise.
