The Chicago chapter of the Minuteman Project is urging passage of federal legislation that could increase penalties for illegal immigrants.

Rosanna Pulido leads the local Minuteman group. She says too many illegal immigrants take jobs from Americans and pay no taxes.

She says people who are in this country illegally should return home and work for improvements in their countries.

""Illegal aliens do not have a voice here,"" she says. ""Law-abiding American citizens have a voice.""

The Minuteman group gathered in response to a huge rally in downtown Chicago in protest of the so-called Sensenbrenner bill, sponsored by Wisconsin Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner.

Opponents say it would make criminals of undocumented immigrants, as well as people who help them remain in the U.S.

The bill passed the House last year and goes to the Senate this month.
