Sam Lay worked with legends, and along the way became a legend himself. From Little Walter to Muddy Waters, from Howlin’ Wolf to Willie Dixon, Sam Lay played drums on dozens of influential blues records in the early 1960’s. By the middle of the decade, he was recording and touring with the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, a multi-racial outfit that spread Chicago blues across the world. Earlier this month was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Lay talks about his life and his music. Also, a look at Method soap’s move to the Pullman neighborhood. (Flickr/pocuswhiteface)
