In 2013, NPR’s Weekend Edition host Scott Simon’s mother was dying. Rather than grieve in private, Simon live tweeted his last moments with her to share the experience and offer empathy to others who may be struggling with the loss of a loved one. Simon captured those tweets and expanded on his life growing up in Chicago with his mother in his new memoir, “Unforgettable: A Son, a Mother, and the Lessons of a Lifetime.” We catch up with him.
