A series of reports from Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ’s Tony Arnold found that the number of Illinois children dying from abuse and neglect remains high – even after the state’s child welfare agency had been involved with the child’s family. With Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner vowing to “transform” Illinois’ troubled Department of Children and Family Services we take a closer look at the neglect of kids in the state, and the political hurdles Rauner faces in reforming the agency.
