Transgender issues continue to garner attention in the US. Last month President Obama introduced regulations that explicitly prohibit medical professionals from discriminating against people on the basis of their gender identity. On the other side of the spectrum, yesterday voters in Houston rejected a human rights ordinance which included protections for those who identify as transgender. And, closer to home there’s a battle brewing over the use of a high school locker room by a trans student. We take a look at that issue, how it’s playing out and the possible broader implications. We also take the pulse of the nearly 100-year-old Chicago Urban League. Plus, Reclaimed Soul’s Ayana Contreras turns us on to Chicago Soul artists whose stage names include the word Little.
