Last Friday, 22-year-old Nadia Ezaldein was shot by her ex-boyfriend Marcus Dee while working her shift at a Nordstrom store off North Michigan Avenue. Ezaldein was pronounced dead the following afternoon. The incident sparked a conversation about the rules to requesting protection, as the family of the victim revealed their daughter’s ex frequently harassed, threatened and tormented the family. According to reports, Dee and Ezaldein’s sister both petitioned for temporary restraining orders earlier in the year, but were denied by a Cook County judge.
