Where homeless Chicagoans can turn for help as cold season settles in

More than 65,000 Chicagoans experienced some form of homelessness in 2020, according to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless.

Chicago’s harsh winters can be especially punishing for the city’s unhoused population. More than 60 people died from cold exposure in Chicago last winter, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.
