We are rounding out this year’s book club with You Better Be Lightning, a gorgeous new poetry collection by Andrea Gibson. The poems are about love, gender, illness, and even basketball. Andrea is an award-winning poet who is widely known for their spoken word performances. We talk about what it has been like to lose the magic of live events during the pandemic and how they see their role as a poet and activist.
If you have thoughts on this book, we want to hear them! Is there a particular line from a poem that stuck with you? Why? Do you normally read poetry? Send us a voicemail at email@example.com before our discussion on December 29!
A note to listeners, this episode includes discussion of suicidal thoughts in the second half of the program. If you or any of your loved ones are in need of help, you can reach the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
