New analysis paints very different portrait of development in northern suburbs
Two north suburban towns have developed very differently since the government decommissioned the land to allow for residential use. Ft. Sheridan, the location of a former army base that now serves as a training center for army reserves, looks more like a forest preserve, while Glenview has boomed with mixed-use developments, including retail and housing. Crain’s Chicago Business housing reporter Dennis Rodkin explains why these communities have experienced very different fates.
