The book is written by authors Tsering Woeser and Wang Lixiong, and represents a rare Chinese view that is sympathetic to Tibetan causes. Woeser was awarded the International Women of Courage award by the U.S; Department of State in 2013 and Wang Lixiong has been honored with a Freedom of Expression Award for his work on the Tibetan issue.
