Do you know what was on the Chicago City Council’s docket this week? Or what strategic plans your local school board plans to discuss down the line?

There are an endless number of public municipal meetings every week, but it’s impossible for one person — even the most civically engaged — to attend and weigh in on all the meetings that affect them.

And with shrinking resources in newsrooms, the majority of those meetings are receiving little-to-no media coverage.

But a new web application launched by City Bureau Tuesday aims to collect and organize information like local public meeting dates, times and official records — all in one place.

Morning Shift talks with one of the organizers for more on the Documenters program and how residents can use it to stay informed on what’s going on in their communities.
