Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies at Hastings (CGRS) released a report last week emphasizing the importance of assigning child advocates for young immigrants arriving in the U.S. without parents or guardians. The report drew attention to University of Chicago Law School’s Young Center for Immigrant Children’s Rights as the only organization actually providing independent child advocates for minors arriving alone.
