In China, new rules governing the internet kicked in earlier this month, thanks to a recent judicial interpretation. Now, people who post “defamatory comments” online reaching more than 5,000 readers or achieving more than 500 reposts could receive up to three years behind bars, according to China’s Xinhua news.
