City officials on Thursday launched a new taskforce to examine the city’s ticketing and debt collection system and its impact on motorists in low-income and black communities.

The City Council approved modest reforms in November to help low-income residents cope with debt following a WBEZ-ProPublica Illinois investigation into how the city punishes motorists who can’t afford to pay tickets.
