A Northwest Indiana doctor is under indictment…after he is alleged to have written more than six thousand prescriptions for opioids. Federal prosecutors allege Dr. Jay Joshi wrote more prescriptions for controlled substances than any other doctor in Northwest Indiana since last April. And he did it, prosecutors allege, without first examining the patients from his office across from the police station in Munster. Joshi, who lives in suburban Chicago, is free on bond pending his first court appearance. He is also prohibited from writing prescriptions.
