An African-American owned restaurant in River North forced to close by the city for the second time is hoping for a win in court on Thursday. The club alleges repeated harassment and racism by the city and Ald. Brendan Reilly. In a complaint, the City of Chicago stated Nouveau Tavern in the River North neighborhood is a public nuisance and filed an emergency motion to have the establishment temporarily closed for seven days under the Drug and Gang House Ordinance. Since the restaurant’s opening more than a year ago, there have been no charges of drugs or gang activity. Teddy Gilmore, promotional manager for Nouveau Tavern, is in studio to talk about the club’s entanglements with the city, and what kind of response he’s received from the alderman. (Flickr/Strychnine)
