Now It’s Really Official: Jackson Park Announced As Site Of Obama Presidential Center

Local lawmakers and community leaders stood at the foot of the Columbia Basin behind the Museum of Science of Industry to announce that nearby Jackson Park will be the site of the Obama Presidential Center. 

Washington Park was also in the running. 

Obama Foundation Chairman Marty Nesbitt said the Obama Presidential Center will benefit the communities of both parks. The environmental organization Friends of the Parks, which successfully blocked the Lucas Museum from being built on the lakefront, says it won’t stop the construction of the presidential library in a city park.
